How Haldune Cyber began.
Haldune Cyber was born inside the Defense Innovation Unit accelerator (DISF-C) and developed through the NSF I-Corps program at the Naval Postgraduate School and University of Chicago Polsky Center, in collaboration with Hedy Cyber. We began with one question: why does the cybersecurity industry lose almost all of its incident knowledge?
We conducted 136 interviews with Cyber Protection Teams, Incident Commanders, and private sector security professionals. What we found was consistent: 5-10 hours of manual documentation per incident, 60% of critical knowledge trapped in people's heads, and nearly half of all reports deliberately withholding incidents from executives out of fear.
The result is a ~94.9% intelligence attrition rate — almost everything learned in the field is lost before it can help anyone else. We built Haldune to fix that.
